Falling banknotes

RAIN and 100 yuan (US$16.30) banknotes fell from sky one morning last week at a high-rise residential area in Xiacheng District. Some passers-by said banknotes were falling into their arms. Residents and shop owners said they found more banknotes on their floors and rooftops.

Residents called police immediately and they handed over 15,500 yuan to officers.

Residents also found four certificates for a man surnamed Bian from Zhuji in the south of Zhejiang Province. Bian is 93 years old and lives alone on the 15th floor of the building.

Police contacted Bian’s daughter and entered his apartment that afternoon, finding him lying unconscious on the floor.

Bian was taken to a hospital immediately although his current condition wasn’t reported. Police confirmed the money belongs to Bian.
