Cornea donation

A grieving couple in Xiaoshan District whose 6-year-old daughter died last week after falling out of their 17th floor apartment window has decided to donate the girl’s corneas.

Xu Xu was found motionless on the ground below their apartment at around 3pm while her grandparents were watching TV in the living room.

She was rushed to Xiaoshan No. 1 People’s Hospital where doctors announced her dead upon arrival. Shocked as they were, the parents decided to donate the girl’s corneas.

“If my daughter knew, she would agree,” the father said with tears in his eyes.

The couple originally decided to donate all her organs but doctors said they were damaged due to the force of impact. Her parents still don’t know how she fell out the window.

“My daughter was so good. She did well in English and received an award in kindergarten,” the father said, sighing while watching his daughter dancing in a pink dress with a magic wand in a video on his smartphone.

“Maybe she is very happy in heaven as she always dreamed of being an angel,” he said.
