Precious time spent at hotel in silver mine

Sala silver mine was the biggest and most important mine in Sweden — with a history of 500 years until production ceased in 1908.

More recently, it has been developed with amusement and adventure in mind. Some 155 meters down is the Sala Silvergruva hotel, where lifts are pretty much essential. Each room is fitted with furniture featuring silver, luxurious double beds and champagne for guests.

The underground suites link to two restaurants, art galleries, lakes and caves.

To the south of the mine are lakes where guests can go for a swim, while at the same time appreciating the spectacular scenery of the karst cave. Website: www.salasilvergruva.se/en/
