Le Meridien Xiamen: a natural oasis in the city

WITH the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, Sourth Africa) Summit approaching in September in Xiamen, the coastal city in Fujian Province is drawing more and more international attention. And along with it will be a flood of tourists, visitors and guests.

Le Meridien Xiamen, on the Xianyue Hill and surrounded by open spaces and lush vegetation, is getting fully prepared for the streams of people.

“As Xiamen is a holiday destination and a bustling economic center, the client for upscale hotels is a fairly even mix of meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions (MICE) business and leisure travelers,” says David Katemopoulos, general manager of Le Meridien Xiamen.

The hotel is designed in a fine balance between an urban and a natural setting and has convenient access to downtown, the airport and the international cruise terminal to Gulangyu Island.

Le Meridien Xiamen features 342 refined guestrooms, including 12 villa suites, all with private balconies overlooking either the courtyard or the hill. The hotel offers personalized service, modern design and limitless opportunities for discovery.

At Latest Recipe, Le Meridien’s signature breakfast menu and seasonal buffet offer a great variety of global cuisines.

The Chinese restaurant offers authentic Cantonese- and Fujian-style cuisine transformed into modern interpretations to delight guests’ palates and senses. Latitude 24 lounge serves a perfect complement of sparkling aperitif and destination-inspired petit plates with local and seasonal ingredients.

For a stimulating meeting, conference or function, the hotel features 10 meeting rooms with over 2,000 square meters of space. The 850-square-meter, 10-meter-high pillarless Grand Ballroom with natural daylight is a great choice for ideas to be sparked.

The relaxed hillside location provides the perfect backdrop for a serene and joyous wedding experience on that special day. Guests can watch the evening unfold amid waterfalls and lush plants for a romantic and celebratory experience.

“Both the leisure and corporate segments will continue to be our key revenue streams,” says Katemopoulos. “Xiamen is fast developing to become the economic and financial center of Fujian that will drive the corporate demand.”

Le Meridien Xiamen’s state-of-the-art facilities also feature an artistic gymnasium, indoor heated swimming pool, spa, 360-degree tennis court on the hilltop and trekking or cycling surrounding the Xianyue Park.

“We welcome guests from all over the world to discover Xiamen from Le Meridien,” the general manager says.
