NAME/NATIONALITY: Julian Wong/Hong Kong, China

How often do you travel?

Depends on whether it’s for business or for a vacation. For vacation, I would normally do two to three trips a year.

Favorite traveling style?

I like diversity in my leisure travel. Beach resorts, historical destination or major cities all suits me well. Localized experience, mingling with locals and experiencing local food and culture inspires me.

Q: What do you always do after returning from a trip?

A: Years ago, I used to go straight back to work after a vacation. However, I sometimes found it tough to run straight back into work especially after a lengthy time out. Nowadays, I tend to give myself one or sometimes two days home rest or just a little bit of gym workout to recover from lengthy vacation. It’s a personal habit but it works well for me because when I return to work, I feel recharged.

Q: What do you always search for during a trip?

A: Local food, local handicraft, famous landmarks, street-style restaurants if they have.

Q: What do you always pack?

A: Mobile phone, camera, watch and local map.

Q: What is your preferred airline?

A: It depends on the destination really. I personally like Emirates Airline and Cathay Pacific.

Q: Do you have any tips about seating on a flight?

A: I like to seat near the aisle because I have long legs. Besides, it’s easier to go to the washroom when nature calls.

Q: Best in-flight meal or activity?

A: If you’re in business class, the meal is definitely better without a question. For long haul, I like to stretch and walk a bit. Watch in-house movies too. I rarely sleep on a flight.

Q: How do you get over jet lag?

A: I’m not good at that but I try not to sleep on flight and when I reach my destination, I’ll feel sleepy enough to go for early rest. If I still cannot sleep, I will try to work out to tire myself.

Q: What are your favorite hotels? What makes these hotels so memorable?

A: My favorite hotels for personal travel are those small independent boutique hotels that still retain their original charm and DNA. For work or business, without a doubt, it’s a Marriott hotel.

Q: What do you value most when choosing a hotel?

A: Clean, bright room, great personalized service and location.

Q: What hotels do you look forward to staying at in the future?

A: The Cotton House, Autograph Collection. The quintessential Autograph Collection hotel!

Q: Recommend one of your favorite destinations. Why is it so special?

A: Australia. Beautiful, stunning views, friendly people and great weather.

Q: Best/must purchase in Australia.

A: I’m more for food, so good food counts. Handicrafts too. It depends on which cities in Australia.

Q: What do you do upon arriving Australia?

A: Check for food, where and what to visit.
