Banyan resort nestled in ‘fairyland’

BANYAN Tree Hotels & Resorts is bringing an exclusive retreat experience to the Sichuan region with Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2016. Known as a “fairyland on Earth,” Jiuzhaigou takes its name from nine Tibetan villages along its border. Located near Jiuzhaigou National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, guests will be able to enjoy a stunning landscape of crystal clear pools, waterfalls and limestone terraces with magnificent mountaintop views.

Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou’s architectural design is a clean, modern take on classical Oriental styles unique to the region. The rich cultural heritage of the Qiang people, a local ethnic minority group well known for their intricate handicraft embroidery and vivid colors, is evident throughout the complex. Dark wood floors laid with colorful and intricately embroidered carpets perfectly complement the lush landscape outside.

There are 209 guest rooms and suites, with sizes starting from 65 square meters. Guests can choose from the Garden Room, Golf-Mountain Room, Valley Room and Panoramic Suite — all offering marvelous views of mountains and valleys. The Presidential Suite is 325 square meters and located at the highest point of the resort with generous living and dining spaces, making it ideal for entertaining family and friends.

The resort offers several delicious dining options. Ming Yue, the all day dining restaurant, serves an extensive breakfast buffet spread of international cuisine that can be enjoyed in a cool indoor garden. At Gan Hai Zi, the resort’s hot pot restaurant, promotes wellness through the use of local ingredients and herbs steeped in a delicious soup. The Chinese restaurant Bai Yun serves authentic Sichuan specialties and gourmet Cantonese delicacies. Aqua Cafe’s health-conscious menu offers fresh fruit juice and light snacks. Qing Feng Bar is an elegant semicircular lounge with high ceilings, the perfect setting for intimate late-night conversations over cocktails.

Located in Sichuan Province in China’s southwest, Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou is a 2.5-hour drive from Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport, and is 45 minutes away from the Jiuzhaigou National Park.
