Ayard of Ch’an promises serenity in heart of Leshan

SET within a serene garden, Ayard of Ch’an feels like a world apart, inviting you to pause and take in the calming sounds of nature. In tune with its historic surroundings in Leshan, Sichuan Province, this boutique hotel pairs traditional Chinese architecture with contemporary styling.

The hotel offers a unique relaxation experience with a Buddhist touch. Rooms are set in private courtyards named for the Zen Buddhist principles of Xing Shen (meaning practice), and Jing Lv (peace of mind). Following the paths through the garden leads to a private meditation arbor, surrounded by pine trees. A peaceful teahouse hosts traditional Chinese tea ceremonies. Take a seat in the Buddhism-inspired restaurant to savor vegetarian cuisine made from fresh, local produce.

With its natural setting and Zen atmosphere, Ayard of Ch’an leaves guests perfectly prepared to explore the ancient sites of Leshan. Several of China’s most cherished Buddhist sites, including the awe-inspiring Grand Buddha, are only a walk away from the hotel. This huge statue, carved into a cliff over 1,000 years ago, is the largest stone Buddha in the world.
