An innovative art platform for digital media creativity
ART in the City, a groundbreaking new project launched in 2014 to support art, is presenting “BLAST! 2017” with a cutting-edge explosion of animation, computer-generated videos and much, much more.
The innovative “BLAST! Sounds” explores new music with acoustic, electronic and experimental, as well as several other innovative genres.
In “Blast!” exhibition, some of the jury members and artists will be presenting original works to the audience. There are two installations by Italian artist Donato Piccolo and Chinese virtuoso Xie Xin, who will create a tridimensional pause in the flow of digital presentations.
FUMO will introduce some of the world’s best motion design studios and designers to China for the first time, including ManvsMachine (London/Los Angeles), Buda (Buenos Aires), Tendril (Toronto), Method Studios (New York), Zeitguised (Berlin), Raoul Marks (Melbourne) and Aixsponza (Munich).
The event aims to reach out to professionals beyond the field of art and offering the general public a fresh, unexpected sight on what is new in the digital and creative world.
Axel Le is the winner of this year’s finalists. His work was chosen from hundreds of submissions. He will attend the FUMO Motion Design Class.
Curator and chairman of the jury Davide Quadrio said: “‘Loop’ (by Axel Le) is a complex computer-animated short film that takes the idea of ‘Blast!’ It tells a complex story, combining sci-fi with an energizing editing of both images and sound.”
The “BLAST!” exhibition will show the works of winners from years gone by, together with an original presentation from this year’s triumphs.
“From this year on, everyone will be part of this adventure, and this year we are happy to see that we have had contributions from over 22 countries and regions,” said Quadrio, adding that the event explores the intersection of accessibility and artistic intention between contemporary digital art in Asia and the rest of the world.
“The open call is devoted to creating a more compressive stage for visitors to discover the emerging multimedia talent of creators in the 21st century,” he said.
