A deal from Shanghai to New York

CHINA Southern Airlines will launch a new flight from Shanghai to New York through Guangzhou in August with a discounted return ticket of 2,500 yuan (US$402.5)excluding taxes. The new flight, to begin operating August 6, will go four times a week — on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Passengers need to take a flight to Guangzhou and then leave for New York. The discount will be effective from August 26 through the end of the year, said Su Ming, deputy director with the China Southern Shanghai branch. Before that, a return ticket will cost 8,500 yuan as it’s the peak period for students studying abroad. Su said the cheapest ticket for the flight to New York aims to promote the airline’s new route and attract passengers. Passengers are advised to book early, since the low-price tickets are limited. The airline will use new Boeing 777s to fly the new route.
