Other online medical services

WITH the quickly expanding online services, a number of organizations are testing online medical consultation services around the country.
Chunyu (Spring Rain) Handheld Doctor
This is a Taobao-style platform on which doctors run their own clinic.
By registering online, patients can consult doctors on health matters. Patients are expected to rate the doctor after the consultation, which will influence his/her reputation on the platform.
There are now 45,000 registered doctors on the platform, which was launched in 2011. An average of 60,000 questions are raised and answered on the platform each day.
Apart from the free consultation service, patients can also purchase the “private doctor” service. The cost ranges from 18 yuan (US$3) to 1,000 yuan and users are entitled to unlimited questions. Ordinary visitors can only ask one question every 10 days.
About 40 percent of doctors’ replies on the platform involve medicines.
Ningbo Cloud Hospital
The government-supported Ningbo Cloud Hospital started running this month and includes grassroots medical institutions, physicians and third-party service platforms. The third-party platform includes medical imaging, clinical laboratory, remote consultation and health education centers.
About 100 grassroots medical institutions, 107 community physicians and 86 doctors from local hospitals have registered.
The online prescriptions are connected to pharmacies. Patients can either choose to purchase drugs at nearby pharmacies or have them delivered to their home.
Ningbo Cloud Hospital focuses on improving medical services at grassroots institutions by providing community physicians with online support from top hospitals, according to Liu Jiren, president of Dongruan Group, a major partner in the program.
Ali Cloud Hospital
This system links the information of participating clinics and hospitals in one database. Through resource sharing it creates a more efficient medical records system that benefits both doctors and patients.
Hospitals will use the HIS (hospital information system) provided by Ali to store patients’ medical records. The file can then be seen by the next doctor the patient consults.
HIS has been installed in hundreds of institutions in Beijing, mostly small and private clinics. The company is working on expanding it to major public hospitals.
