The Qube, Pudong offers special MICE package

The Qube, Pudong is positioned as a young, fashionable and trendy hotel. Shanghai Daily recently talked with Raymond Zhang, the hotel’s general manager, about their MICE strategies.
Q: Can you briefly introduce your hotel and your MICE facilities?
In the Qube, Pudong, we have a 710-square-meter pillar-free grand ballroom with a 7-meter-high ceiling. It can accommodate 200 to 800 guests and can be divided into two ball rooms for banquet, cocktail and other business functions. Besides, we have other five smaller meeting rooms. All meeting spaces are equipped with advanced sound, lighting and projectors systems. We provide personalized services for weddings and business meetings.
Q: What do you think are the unique features of The Qube and how will this young brand compete with other high-end hotels?
Compared with some international hotel brands in the city, The Qube, Pudong features futuristic products and aims to provide memorable experience for our guests. Meanwhile, Shanghai Disneyland and Pudong International Airport are just few minutes’ drive away from the hotel. They are also key attractions for guests.
Q: How do you comment on the intense competition among internationally-branded five-star hotels in Shanghai? What are the challenges you are facing at the moment?
While the demand is not strong, many hotels took the strategies to compete on price. Price war deteriorates the market. It is not a wise way to win the market competition. Our challenge is to keep creating unique products and service for guests, instead of involving too much in the price competition.
Q: What are the key factors to ensure a successful MICE event? Can you name an event held in the hotel that made your client very satisfied?
Proper venue setting, good equipment and attentive, customized service are ingredients of a great MICE experience. Our professional MICE team effectively communicates with organizers and guests to understand their needs, thus reaching their expectation. Timely follow up is also a key factor leading to guests’ satisfaction. One China-Leading jewelry company’s 20th anniversary event was held successfully in our grand ballroom in May this year.
Q: Your hotel has launched the BMWi3 pick-up service for guests. Could you tell us more about it?
Electric cars are the future products. We have BMW i3 fleet to pick up guests at airport or drive them around the city in a trendy Qube way, matching with the Qube brand value.
Q: Does your hotel have a plan to offer special packages in the fourth quarter to attract more customers?
We launched a special package in the third quarter which is valid through the end of this year. The package includes a special room rate of 688 yuan (US$108, minimum 16 persons), full-day use of a meeting room (eight hours), morning & afternoon coffee breaks, working lunch, and king or double-double bed rooms.
