Victoria's Secret to open its first China flagship store in Shanghai this year

PREMIUM lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret will open its first flagship store on the Chinese mainland before the end of the year, the manager of its concept store at Raffles City confirmed to Shanghai Daily yesterday.

The flagship store will take up an area of 1,475 square meters at Lippo Plaza on Huaihai Road, which used to be a two-story retail store of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

No dates have been announced for the opening of the store.

“Unlike the existing five concept stores in Shanghai that only sell accessories and beauty products such as perfumes, shampoos and canvas bags, the flagship will sell its specialty bras and panties.” the store manager said.

The Louis Vuitton store shut down on February 28. It used to be located next to Ermenegildo Zegna store and directly opposite the fifth global Hermes Maison store.

All floor-to-ceiling glass windows around the former stores aresealed tight with black tapes.

The Louis Vuitton’s logo and label on its shop sign is still faintly visible.

“The temporary suspension of all commercial activities on our Huaihai store is due to the evolvement of business environment around Huaihai Road,” an employee from the Communication Department of Louis Vuitton said.

“All products you bought at the Huaihai store enjoy the same after-sales service at Plaza 66 store, Shanghai International Financial Center store and L’Avenue store.”

Though it does not have any plans of opening new stores in Shanghai, Louis Vuitton will upgrade its stores in Wuxi in Jiangsu Province and Changchun in Jilin Province this year.

The company also plans to open its first store in Zhengzhou in Henan Province by the end of this year.

“We also plan to set up a Louis Vuitton foundation in Beijing. It is designed to promote the cause of art and culture,” the Communication Department employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.

“What is more, we will speed up the development of electronic commerce as well.”
