Special hairy crab treat at Waldorf Astoria
WEI Jing Ge, the Chinese restaurant at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is serving the special treat of autumn, the hairy crab, until the end of November. Wei Jing Ge’s Master Chef Yuen sources the crabs from the deep, cold waters of Yangcheng Lake outside Shanghai. The lake is renowned for having the best hairy crab in the region. The hairy crab set menu features nine courses, including the traditionally steamed whole hairy crab served with vinegar and shredded ginger. Sautéed king prawns with hairy crab meat, braised bamboo piths with hairy crab meat and sautéed crab with glutinous rice cake in soya are highly recommended from the à-la-carte menu. To complement the hairy crab, Churchill’s white port is available for a mouth-watering paring. The nine-course hairy crab set menu is priced at 688 yuan (US$102.6) per person and is subject to 15 percent service charge.
