‘Groom’ more than dinner and a show

THE interactive theater production “Where is the Groom?” directed by He Nian, is running through January 30 at a 2,000-square-meter temporary venue set up at a parking lot.

This show isn’t your average theater experience. Audience members are thrust right into the heart of the action as they try to track down a man that goes missing hours before his wedding.

With multiple simultaneously unfolding story lines, viewers follow the characters through various corners of the stage. They will have to be quick though, if they want to catch the full story; although a narrator dressed as a clown is there to answer questions and provide explanation. There’s also the option to “replay” complex scenes and follow different characters as the show proceeds.

“Without knowing what will happen, audience members are expected to work out the puzzle together with those in the story,” said director He. “It’s like a game.”

Food and drinks will be served at the end of the show at a special wedding banquet just for the viewers. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.

Date: Through January 30, 7:15pm (Wednesday-Saturday), 12pm (Saturday-Sunday)

Tickets: 680-1028 yuan (covering meal)

Tel: 400-063-0260

Venue: Broadway Movable Theater

Address: Parking Lot at the cross of Hongshan Rd and Xueye Rd
