THE famous movie “Ghost” had many viewers around the world weeping when it was released in 1990. The love story has since been adapted into a musical, which will be staged at Shanghai Culture Square from May 28 to June 14.

Nominated for an Academy Award for best film in 1990, “Ghost” won numerous awards worldwide.

Starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, Bruce Joel Rubin’s script won an Oscar for best original screenplay while Whoopi Goldberg won for best supporting actress.

The film’s iconic love scene at a potter’s wheel was famously performed to The Righteous Brother’s song “Unchained Melody.”

Adapted for the stage by Rubin, the musical “Ghost” is directed by Matthew Warchus.

Most of the classic scenes in the movie remain and illusion designer Paul Kieve has figured out a way for the ghost to pass through walls.

The production premiered in Manchester in 2011 and has toured 11 countries and regions worldwide.

It has been nominated for five Olivier Awards, including best musical and three Tony Awards.
