German girls’ choir to debut on local stage

THE Regensburg Girls’ Choir from Germany, on their first visit to Shanghai, will present two concerts of opera, pop and ballads.

Established in 1954, the girls choir has now been developed into a chorus with 700 members, most of whom are little girls and teenage girls. They perform different types of music genres covering classical music, cathedral music, ballad and pop.

Choral music is a popular art form in Germany. Many children took choral music education and stage art since a young age. It is estimated that there are more than 20,000 children’s choral groups in Germany.

More than 30 songs will be presented in the concert. The girls will give their new dynamic interpretation of well-known musicals such as “Cats,” “Evita,” “Oliver Twist” and “Peter Pan.” They will sing and dance on stage.
