Festival brings art into everyday life

TRUE to its name, “Art In The City” brings contemporary art out of museums and galleries and into the lives of ordinary people at shopping malls, bars, clubs, offices and other unexpected venues. The annual art festival is on now until October 9.

The main exhibition at chi k11 Art Museum, curated by Davide Quadrio, Massimo Torrigiani and young local curator Chao Jiaxing, is entitled “Take Me Out.”

The crossover exhibition covers a variety of creative disciplines including: visual art, design, fashion, music and print media. Among the participating artists are: Liu Bolin, Qiu Zhijie and Michael Wolf.

A pair of projects on the relationship between art and fashion — “Women’s Independence” and “Fashion Salutes Art” — complement and enrich this exhibition.

International curator Magda Danysz was asked to commission 12 artists to illustrate the “Women’s Independence” show.

The result is a wide range of works in different media, from photography to drawing and painting to video and installations.

Date: Through October 9,
10am-8pm

Venue: chi K11 Art Museum

Address: 300 Huaihai Rd M.
