Exhibition highlighting innovative delights of Art Deco and Cubism

THE Galerie Dumonteil is holding an exhibition from an innovative group of artists from the 1930s royal factory of Sèvres.

“Magnificence Of Art Deco (I) Manufacture de Sèvres: Revival of the Creativity,” the title of the amazing exhibit, reveals some of the most incredibly, beautiful and authentic decorative artworks ever seen — all created from Sèvres stable.

The French national porcelain factory of Sèvres, founded in 1740, features some of the most exquisitely designed and decorated porcelain ever made in Europe.

The original ideal of the factory was to fuse art, savoir-faire and power, with the aim of reproducing absolute perfection.

Yet in the early 1930s, Sèvres renewed its original art forms and decorative elements, inspired by the geometric lines of Cubism.

The great figures of Art Deco were then invited to create for Sèvres, and designers Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann and De Nerville, painters Albert Martine, Pierre Jacquot and Maurice Bisson, and renowned animal sculptor Marcel Derny were just a few who obliged.

The exhibition, which runs through November 5, presents in total 26 unique pieces of porcelain and more than 10 pieces of stoneware sculptures.

For lovers of art, it should not be missed.

Date: Through November 5, 10am-5pm

Address: Bldg 105, Yong Ping Li, 199 Hengshan Rd
