Electrifying art inspired by lightening
FOR multi-media artist Chen Xiaoyun, lightening is more than just a flash of light in the sky. Chen’s new solo show, entitled “106 Flashes of Lightening that I Collect,” explores his fascination with this powerful natural phenomenon.
The show features a variety of artworks — including sculptures, installations and videos — and is on display at ShanghART until July 4.
According to organizers, Chen has made a thorough study of lightning across various media. In some of his creations, lightning is depicted with heavy material and sharp edges; while in others it is presented as a cold, mysterious force. In still other works, lightning is a colorful mingling of blocks, or a romantic and fleeting sparkle in the eyes of a girl.
Whether presented as a powerful force of nature or a sudden burst of emotion, Chen’s inspiring works are sure to jolt the imagination of visitors.
