Chinese Art Master

A solo-exhibition of Chinese master Wu Zuoren (1908-1997) is on display in Shanghai. Born in Suzhou, Wu studied art in Shanghai and later in Nanjing, tutored by Xu Beihong (1895-1953), a milestone in combining and introducing the Western painting technique in China. The exhibition showcases about nearly 100 of Wu’s artworks, ranging from oil, sketches to ink-wash paintings and water-colors during his different periods of time. It also includes some of the historical pictures featuring his study in Europe. Wu not only learnt the excellent Western painting technique, but he established his own style as well.
