Amer’s ‘Journey’ on display at Chen Ji Art Museum

A SOLO exhibition titled “A Journey” featuring works of Belgian artist Burhan Amer is currently underway at Chen Ji Art Museum.

Different from his peers, Amer has had an amazing life journey.

Born in 1960 in Palestine, Amer fled his country due to political strife and bombings.

In 1979, he arrived in China and studied construction engineering at Shanghai Tongji University.

After staying in the city for nine years, Amer went to Belgium and took up residency there.

However, he still kept close contact with China. His experiences in Southeast Asia and Europe have unwittingly nurtured his desire to paint an art world in fluorescent colors.

Through his paintings, Amer shares his thoughts, emotions, sensitivities and reflections about the world.

His paintings can be painful but colorful, dynamic but peaceful, realistic but abstract. Besides art, Amer is a linguist and speaks four foreign languages.

He has even published a French novel titled “Le Papillon de Palestine” in Belgium.

‘A Journey’

Date: Through April 27, 10am-5pm

Venue: Chen Ji Art Museum

Address: 800 Dongchuan Rd
