Young leaders sharpen skills at Dulwich conference event

FROM February 9 to 11, the Head Prefects from all the Dulwich College International Schools gathered in Shanghai for the first Dulwich Leadership Conference. The goal of the conference was to develop our skills as young leaders. We enjoyed workshops about presentation skills, the power of confidence, team building, project management and internal team communication. We also learned how to pass this new found knowledge on to our teams and peers back at school.

The Dulwich Leadership Conference was simply one of the best, eye opening experiences I have ever had. My favourite was planning our “focus initiative” and learning about what each school had come up with. I was able to tie so many links between our projects, and I hope that we can collaborate with others and work on the larger scale. I learned so much from the discussions we had, and listening to the ideas of the other students was the highlight of my experience. We were able to share our experiences but also discuss how we, as Head Prefects, can improve and enhance our school community.

However, this event could not have been as great as it were, if it wasn’t for the help of everyone involved. The DCI event management team allowed this event to happen, the teachers were there to help us along the way, allowing us to come up with socially significant “focus initiative” plans and finally, the students involved were constantly welcoming into any conversation, and through this, we were able to create invaluable friendships.

It was a truly rewarding weekend and we are excited about what this year holds for the 2017 Prefects at Dulwich College Shanghai.
