Waxing lyrical about museum

Recently, my class participated in a history project called the Wax Museum. It was exciting and I learned many things about American history. We did research on a historical figure and presented it to an audience. We even dressed up like the characters to make it seem more real.

I was Dolley Madison for the Wax Museum, and I wore clothes and made props like she had during the Revolutionary War. Making my costume was easy because my mom, my sister and I went to the fabric market to have it made. I got to choose the cloth and the other things that went with my outfit. My dress was based on Dolley Madison’s second wedding dress. For the props, I was more artistic and made a clock based on the one that Dolley saved from the White House during a fire.

Researching was fun too. I found out a lot of new things. It was like exploring a treasure chest. It was challenging to put all the information in order so that it made sense to the audience.

Making a speech is easy if you know a lot about your subject. When you have more information, it is easier to remember certain facts. I was really nervous when I had to present my speech. I was scared that I would mess up and the audience would not like my presentation. But in the end it was fine.

I would say that there were things that were easy and things that were hard and also things that could be improved. Something I would have done better would be make my speech longer and have more fun facts about Dolley Madison so that it would be more entertaining.

Finally, I think that the Wax Museum was a really great project because I got to learn more about the figure I presented and also the figures that others presented.
