SCIS grooming success stories as students excel

NIKLAS Vang, Hongqiao class of 2012

Vang is currently living in Dubai and working for Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts as a sales executive, specializing in wholesale and leisure markets. He manages properties in the Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka.

Anna Yang, Pudong class of 2011, SAT score of 2280

Yang attended the University of British Columbia and majored in Psychology and Economics. After graduating, she returned to Shanghai and is currently working as an associate art director at J Walter Thompson, one of the biggest international advertising agencies in the world. She is also working on launching her educational consulting firm, The Arthas School, which is aimed at improving the quality of local education in China.

Florian Wong, Hongqiao class of 2016, IB score of 41

Wong is currently a freshman at McGill University, Desautels Faculty of Management. He is pursuing a double major in Finance and Information Systems.

Austin Chan, Hongqiao class of 2014, SAT score of 2230, IB score of 42

Chan is currently attending McGill University majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Adam He, Hongqiao class of 2013, IB score of 43, SAT score 2300

In his first year at Pomona College, He was awarded the Jaeger Mathematics Prize. He was also named Pomona College Scholar, which is awarded to the top quarter students in each class, each semester. He is currently a senior at Pomona College pursuing a bachelor’s in Biology and Mathematics.

Melanie Venet, Pudong class of 2016, SAT score of 2080, IB score of 42

Venet is currently a freshman at Pitzer College and double majoring in Environmental Analysis and Biology.

Sam Kane, Pudong class of 2010, SAT score of 2370 (top 1% worldwide)

Kane graduated from Georgetown University in 2014, Summa Cum Laude. He is currently working as a senior research associate at Zeichner Risk Analysis.

Ariane Chan, Hongqiao class of 2013

Chan is currently a senior at McGill University. She is pursuing a double major in Economics and International Development studies.

Emma Howat, Hongqiao class of 2011, IB score of 41

Howat graduated with honors from the University of Melbourne with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. She is currently working as an analyst at Flagstaff Partners.

Julia Zhu, Pudong class of 2011, SAT score 2260

Zhu graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor in Psychology and a minor in Asian Studies. She recently moved back to Shanghai and is working as a strategist at top branding and design firm, Siegel + Gale.

Carnie Lewis, Hongqiao class of 2013, IB score of 42

Lewis is currently a senior at the University of Southern California. She is majoring in Occupational Therapy, one of the most competitive programs for admittance as USC. She maintains a 4.0 GPA. In addition, she is also pursuing a minor in International Relations.

Adam Engdahl, Hongqiao class of 2011

After graduating from SCIS, Engdahl went on to attend the University of London, Royal Holloway School of Management. He was awarded the top performing student in his second year and final year. He achieved the highest average grade in his department of approximately 400 students. He went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Contemporary Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford. He is currently working as an analyst for the London Stock Exchange Group.
