Mum broadened my horizons

MY mother has made a difference in my world and changed my life. She has helped me to broaden my perspective by reading international books and magazines. Reading can be difficult, however by reading in my second language I can learn a lot about global issues from a different perspective.

When I am tired, my mother gives me a lot of inspiration. In addition, my mother usually talks about current events and watches news before discussing it with me. We usually go abroad at least once a year to see the world. This allows me to gain more of a global perspective. By going abroad, I experience the cultures and foods of a lot of countries. This has made a difference in my life.

Let me give you an example. I went to Hong Kong with my mother when I was 12 years old. Before then, I didn’t know anything about Hong Kong. After our trip I learned so much about local culture and food that made Hong Kong famous. I got a lot of information by seeing, touching, tasting and doing things when I went abroad. None of this would have been possible without my mother’s care and support.
