Fond memories of influential teacher

WHEN I think of the teachers who have influenced me during my time at YCIS, all of the teachers I’ve had since kindergarten make the cut, but one of the teachers whose advice has really stuck with me over the years was my Year 3 teacher, Mr Deckert.
When I first met Deckert, I didn’t really know what to expect. He had previously served in the navy, so following the rules was very important to him, but it also meant that he had a lot of fun stories to tell us. I think his appreciation for punctuality, responsibility, and respect was what really triggered my appreciation for following rules.
Another characteristic that Deckert had was that he was never afraid to push us out of our comfort zones.
