‘Thithi’ (India)

In a remote village in south India, three generations of sons react to the death of Century Gowda, their grandfather, a 101-year-old man. The three story lines intertwine before converging at Century Gowda’s “Thithi”, the final funeral celebration eleven days after a death.

‘One Night Only’ (China)

The criminal gang-romance film is about a gambler and a prostitute who fall in love. It juxtaposes violent gang fights and romantic encounters, and has the challenge of portraying scenes in the casinos and red-light districts, as well as chase and fight scenes.

Chie, a young girl out of college, is diagnosed with cancer soon after becoming engaged. Undeterred, and with an understanding that the cancer treatment will leave her unable to bear children, her marriage still begins on a happy note. Out of the blue, a miracle happens and Chie discovers she is pregnant. But her decision to keep the baby comes with a high risk for her cancer to return. After consulting with a doctor, she adopts lifestyle changes switching her diet to traditional Japanese foods to keep her body healthy. Knowing that her time with her daughter will be short, Chie caringly passes along lessons learned to prepare her child for life without her.

‘Land of the Little People’ (Israel)

Another war has started in Israel. Most men are drafted quickly in service of their country. While all the grown-ups are getting worried, four kids play at an old army base, now empty and unused. One day, the kids find two army deserters hiding in their secret playground. Being the sons and a daughter of military officers, the children know only one way to regain their territory – with ruthlessness.

In a futuristic dystopian world, where people are filled with emptiness and desperation, “he” desperately tries to acquire a spot on a circular platform that leads people into a deep state of hypnosis; cutting him off from all the coldness surrounds him.

‘Detective Chinatown’ (China)

Director: Chen Sicheng

Starring: Liu Haoran and Wang Baoqiang

This action-packed comedy follows Qin Feng and his second cousin, Tang Ren, Chinatown’s top detective, as they investigate a bizarre murder where they become the main suspects. When the only option is to escape from the police in order to prove their innocence, they find the world against them with just seven days to solve the case.

‘The World of Us’ (South Korea)

Director: Yoon Ga-eun

Starring: Choi Soo-in

The film follows the relationship of Sun and her friends in the 4th grade, which is as confusing and troublesome as those of grown-ups. Sun, Ji-ah and Bo-ra are ordinary girls with no special features, and they grow close, fall apart and make up, which is a part of the painful process called growing up.
