The harmony of Latvian choristers

The Latvian Radio Choir is the professional chamber choir of Latvian Radio, founded in 1940 by conductor Teodors Kalnins. The award-winning ensemble offers audiences a repertory ranging from early music to contemporary compositions.

The choir recorded the Grammy Award-winning album “Adam’s Lament,” composed by Estonian Arvo Pärt and conducted by Tonu Kaljuste. The choir has also been a repeat winner of the Great Music Award of Latvia, the country’s highest national award for professional achievement in music.

The Latvian Radio Choir has performed in many of the world’s most renowned concert halls, including the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in the Netherlands, the Elbphilharmonie in Germany and the Lincoln Center in New York. It has also regularly performed at the BBC Proms in London and at the Salzburg and Lucerne music festivals.

The choir encourages composers to write new music that challenges the capabilities of a human voice.
