Speed Queen opens new ‘Laundry My Way’ store

GLOBAL laundry expert Speed Queen has recently opened a new flagship store on the third floor of Carrefour at Xu Jing in Shanghai. The Speed Queen Laundry Center is the 20th opened by the company since launching in China in 2014. The new store marks the beginning of a new stage of rapid expansion of Speed Queen in China.
The store opening was presided over by Rick Pyle, president of Alliance International, Alliance Laundry Systems, parent company of Speed Queen, and Li Baiqing, managing director of Speed Queen China. The storefront resembled a giant gift box that was opened to reveal the store to delighted shoppers and local media. The Speed Queen’s American-style laundry emphasizes high quality, hygiene, safety, and eco-friendliness.
Rick Pyle and Li Baiqing also shared the company’s vision for China. Traditional laundries in Europe and America have gradually disappeared due to stricter environmental protection regulations. Speed Queen’s energy-saving approach, eco-friendly detergents, and degradation and emission standards meet or exceed the most rigorous global regulations and are ideally suited for China conditions.
Speed Queen is dedicated to bringing globally popular self-service laundry to China on a large scale. To serve the needs of Chinese homemakers, the company is also implementing a “self-service plus” model. This includes offering free professional laundry advice and on-site consultations about fabric care at the outlets.
Within the stores, the self-service laundry area and wide array of commercial self-service washing machines and dryers catch the attention. Next, Speed Queen’s brand representatives from Europe warmly introduced the new self-service laundry model in fluent Chinese.
Guests present were fascinated to hear how self-service laundry has become part of the social life in Europe and America. Although over 70 percent of Chinese laundry is still done at home, bulky items are difficult to wash. On cold rainy days, laundry is difficult to dry. Laundry dried outside can also be contaminated by birds, pollution, mould and odors.
Speed Queen’s self-service laundries are also less pricey than traditional laundry services. It just takes 30-minutes of washing and 30-minutes of drying to quickly, conveniently and economically complete a load.
Speed Queen charges for its service by baskets. Astandard basket with 14kg of laundry (approximately 40 summer clothing items or 10 winter clothing items) washed and dried costs an affordable 50 yuan (US$8).
Speed Queen’s commercial-quality large-capacity washers and dryers effortlessly handle curtains, quilts and other bulky items. The large professional dryers can dry the laundry quickly and thus effectively restore the softness and fluffiness of fabrics and make them more comfortable to wear. The high temperature kills bacteria and mites.
Large volumes of laundry can be washed simultaneously at a Speed Queen Laundry Center. Each machine is automatically disinfected after every wash, keeping the results totally hygienic. The store also has a lounge area with free drinking water and wifi so customers can relax while they wait.
For the opening event, members of the media were invited to bring difficult-to-wash items to personally experience Speed Queen service. Speed Queen Laundry Center consultants help with laundry categorizing, de-staining, washing and pressing. They provide special care for business suits, outerwear, shirts, uniforms, wedding gowns, dresses and many other fine garments.
At the Wet Cleaning Washing Area, Arnaud Guerin, an international laundry expert from France, answered questions about laundry care, and demonstrated the one-stop wet cleaning washing service. Speed Queen Laundry Center’s experienced laundry consultants can advise on the ideal washing process for various materials to ensure garments do not shrink, deform or lose color.
