PURE Rooms available at InterContinental

INTERCONTINENTAL Suzhou occupies a coveted location on the shores of Suzhou’s Jinji Lake, a showpiece destination in one of China’s most cherished tourism cities.

The 27-storey hotel features 427 contemporary guest rooms, five eclectic restaurants and lounges, a luxury spa and an indoor infinity pool — as well as panoramic views of the willow-fringed Jinji Lake and the new Suzhou skyline. InterContinental Suzhou also offers extensive meetings, conference and event facilities, as well as a stunning wedding pavilion.

Another special feature of the hotel are its PURE Rooms. These rooms have gone through a patented seven-step process to reduce allergens and irritants such as mold, dust mites, yeast, bacteria, pollen, viruses and fungi. The process was developed by PURE, a US-based company specializing in “allergy-free” cleaning services and products, and is designed to significantly improve air quality for all guests, not just allergy sufferers.

Indeed, based on survey data by PURE, 83 percent of tourists would prefer allergen-free rooms if provided with such an option. This proportion goes up even further among guests traveling with children. What’s more, just over half of all hotel visitors say they would chose one hotel over another based on the availability of “allergy-free” rooms, according to a separate survey by PURE.

Such figures illustrate the importance hotel guests place on the cleanliness of their rooms and the environment.

During the PURE Room cleaning process, each room undergoes a rigorous purification process. For instance, carpets and upholstered surfaces are cleaned using all-natural plant-based PURE Clean products. Special air handling and climate control equipment is also installed in each PURE Room to reduce irritants and improve air-circulation. Hypo-allergenic pillows and bedding are also used in designated PURE Rooms.

Now at the InterContinental Suzhou, eight such rooms can be found on the hotel’s 19 floor. These include its Deluxe Lake Room, Premier Lake Room, Premier Panoramic Room and Deluxe Lake Suite.

In the Deluxe Lake Room, visitors can enjoy the comforts of a contemporary 52-square-meter room that features a stunning view of Jinji Lake. Bamboo screens, birdcage lanterns, ceramic art installations and other traditional Suzhou-inspired design details can also be found in the room.

Meanwhile, the Premier Lake Room features a similar view of the beautiful Jinji Lake. Visitors can pamper themselves in this spacious special room and soak in a luxurious round bathtub. Couples are strongly encouraged to reserve this room.

The hotel’s Premier Panoramic Room has an area of 71sqm. As its name suggests, it offers an outstanding 270-degree views of the Jinji Lake and the city skyline. This room also features a spacious bathroom with double washbasins, a luxurious round bathtub, a separate rain shower and a walk-in dressing room. For a mere 150 yuan (US$24), plus a 15 percent service fee on top of the normal room rate, visitors to the InterContinental Suzhou can book the PURE Room treatment during their stay.
