Exhibition brings ‘Potter’ magic to Shanghai

HARRY Potter fans in Shanghai will soon have the opportunity to step inside the famous wizard’s world with “Harry Potter: The Exhibition.”

The traveling exhibition will raise its curtain next Saturday at the Super Brand Mall, where it will remain on view for the next three months.

This popular exhibition has already received more than three million visitors in Boston, Toronto, Seattle, New York, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo and Paris.

At the 1,400-square-meter experiential exhibition, visitors are able to enjoy dramatic displays inspired by the “Harry Potter” film sets and see the amazing craftsmanship behind authentic costumes, props and creatures from the films.

Visitors will be greeted by a host who will sort lucky attendees into their favorite Hogwarts houses.

They will then set off on a spellbinding journey through recreations of the films’ most iconic settings — including the Gryffindor common room and dormitory, classrooms for Potions and Herbology, and the Forbidden Forest — each filled with authentic props, costumes and creature models used in the “Harry Potter” movies.

In addition to these beautifully-wrought environments and displays, the exhibition also offers several interactive elements.

Visitors can enter the Quidditch area and toss a Quaffle ball, pull their own Mandrake in the Herbology classroom vignette, and even tour a recreation of Hagrid’s hut and sit in his giant-sized armchair.

Meanwhile, must-see artifacts and props include Harry’s school uniform, glasses and wand; the sorcerer’s stone, the Marauder’s map, and Lord Voldemort’s robes.

An exclusive audio tour will also be available at the exhibition, providing behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the “Harry Potter” films, with commentary from the producers, prop designers, costume designers and creature designers.

Tickets are now available at www.damai.cn and www.lvmama.com.
