Elegant princess of Japanese animation to perform

THE voice reverberating through Japanese animation company Studio Gibli is coming to Shanghai.

Born in 1987 in Hakata, Japanese singer Aoi Teshima began her journey in music in 2003, when she participated in “DIVA,” which was held as part of a “Teen’s Music Festival.”

In 2005, Aoi Teshima took part in “Japan-Korea slow music’s world.” Her excellent performance impressed animation film director Goro Miyazaki, son of Miyazaki Hayao, which laid the foundation for future cooperation.

Aoi Teshima’s first song “Therru’s Song,” which was released on June 7, 2006, was used in “Tales from Earthsea,” a movie directed by Goro Miyazaki. It ranked first on Oricon chart after being released, and stayed on the chart for up to 35 weeks.

Another collaboration was “From up on Poppy,” Goro Miyazaki’s second feature. This time, Teshima presented the main theme “Summer of Goodbye” and other pieces, while voicing the character Yuko.

Fans say the noise and rubbish of the real world are wiped away when listening to her pure vocals.

In September, local fans will be able to hear this elegant princess live when she performs her staple works in town.
