Become your own DJ at The Music Run

SHANGHAI runners will get a taste of a brand new running experience this month, with The Music Run, introduced by AIA, landing in China for the first time on October 24.

The Music Run will have various types of music from around the world played through its whole 5-kilometer route, which gives runners a unique experience. The hearts and fists pumping music will be chosen entirely by participants.

The Music Run has been making waves in Asia with sell-out crowds in cities like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok and Yangon. For the first China edition falling on October 24 at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, it is expected to attract thousands of runners. AIA China, a passionate supporter of healthy living, has come on board as the Presenting Sponsor for the Shanghai leg of the run.

At The Music Run by AIA, participants will get to run, dance and party their way through a soundtrack of five unique and interactive 1km Music Zones featuring five music genres — Rock, Pop, Retro, R&B/Hip Hop and Dance. The music immersion experience is amplified with over 100 concert quality speakers pumping out tunes every step of the way.

The Music Run puts full control of the soundtrack in the hands of participants. Runners become their own DJ as they vote to decide the music they want to listen to during the run. All registered participants can vote online for their favorite tracks from each of the five music genres in advance, and the five most popular tracks from each music genre will form the music zone’s playlist for the run.

The Music Run is an untimed activity, which means runners of any fitness level and age can join and have fun at his or her own pace.

“As a passionate supporter of healthy living, AIA is introducing a fun, social, interactive and engaging fitness concept that is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels to China,” said John Cai, CEO of AIA China. “The Music Run is a combination of music and running. We focus on contributing to the well-being of people and the partnership is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to helping people live longer, healthier lives.”

Executive Director of Exceed Sports & Entertainment Martin Capstick believes that The Music Run’s combination of music and running forms a powerful connection with today’s modern generation. Capstick is also the Event Promoter of The Music Run across Asia.

“With the resounding success of The Music Run in the cities we have been to, we are proud to be bringing it to China for the first time,” he said. “We are excited to build a community of Music Runners whom we put at the heart of this experience by inviting them to decide the songs they want to listen to during the run.”

To get runners warmed up, The Music Run by AIA will kick off with a Start Zone party at 1:30pm and end with an After Party in the Music Village. Chinese idol group SNH48 will appear on site as special guests. Participants can also enjoy entertainment, food and beverage, as well as promotions and prizes at sponsors’ tents.
