Tourist numbers down, revenue up
The top 10 tourist attractions in Songjiang hosted more than 330,000 visitors during the weeklong Chinese New Year holiday.
That was an 11 percent decline from last year’s holiday, mainly due to rainy weather, but revenue from tourism rose 12 percent to 16 million yuan (US$2.56 million).
Hotels in Songjiang reported a 5.5-percent increase in business to about 10,000 guests.
The district’s top 10 tourist attractions include Shanghai Happy Valley, Fangta Park, Shanghai Movie and Television Park, Zuibaichi Park, Chenshan Botanic Park, Thames Town and Sheshan National Forest Park.
Happy Valley remains the top draw card. It reported holiday revenue of 9.4 million yuan, up 11 percent from last year.
Resorts in rural areas, including hot springs and strawberry farms, also attracted many holiday trippers. Home-stays in countryside resorts picked up as rain drove visitors indoors.
