Road works to ease congestion
CONSTRUCTION of the new Yexin-Dayan Road, Songjiang’s biggest road expansion project this year, is set to begin in December.
The 25-kilometer, six-lane thoroughfare will run from Xingong Road in the west to the eastern boundary of the Fengxian District. About 33 bridges will be renovated or relocated under the project. The new roadway will feature lush landscaping and state-of-the-art lighting.
“The current two-lane Yexin-Daye Road is of poor quality and can’t meet the needs of increased traffic,” said a spokesman from Songjiang’s Construction and Traffic Committee.
As a district-to-district road, the Yexin-Daye route is an important transport link between the Yangshan Deepwater Port in the east and connecting highways to Zhejiang Province in the west.
In addition, the route traverses Songjiang and Fengxian’s main towns, such as Xinbang, Maogang, Yexie, Nanqiao and the New Lingang City.
