Every morning before you set out for work, you can use your smartphone to check on traffic conditions or bus times.
Transport in Songjiang is using real-time web technology to make life easier and more efficient for residents.
Bus line 4, for example, has opened an official Weixin account, allowing people to check when the next bus will arrive at the stop nearest them. In addition, those with time to wait can set a reminder on the account if they want to do some quick shopping nearby without missing the bus.
“In the past, it was a case of ‘I’m waiting for the bus,’ but now people can say, ‘the bus is waiting for me,’” said a spokesman from the Songjiang Traffic Transportation Management Bureau.
