It’s a pleasant experience to find clean restrooms
FOR people long used to smelly, dirty public toilets, the public facilities at the North Gate of Fangta Park come as quite a surprise.
Zhang Weiying, who is in charge of maintaining the restrooms, is an employee of Jingyun Co, which has the contract for the work.
She takes her job very seriously. Since she was transferred to the North Gate restrooms a year ago, more than 40 people have sung her praises in a log book where they can comment on facilities.
Zhang is a meticulous cleaner. She brings her own cleaning fluids and air fresheners, and scrubs every corner of the toilets.
She bought a slide-proof mat to put on the floor of the toilets and plants to give the restrooms a green, cheerful look.
Some of the compliments in the log book said the restrooms are as clean as those you would find in an upmarket hotel.
A former clothing factory worker, she often tends to elderly residents and children who are frequent users of the restrooms, and always remains to do a final cleanup after the toilets close for the day.
“It makes me happy to provide a service that the public appreciated,” Zhang said.
