First multipurpose park opens in Dongjing
RIVERSIDE Park in Dongjing Town opened to the public last month, becoming the town’s first park to combine sightseeing, entertainment and physical exercise.
Flanked by Hubin Road on the north and the Zhuanxin River on the south, the park was an abandoned zone after local farms were moved off the land.
The 10-million- yuan (US$1.5 million) redevelopment of the site began last year. The park is equipped with a 460-meter running track and fitness machines as well as luxurious greenbelts, meandering streams and kiosks. It also includes special areas for the elderly and children.
In addition, the park will also offer science education and legal assistance classes.
Students are invited to conduct botanic research projects in the park, and the public is encouraged to “adopt” trees.
