Tackling a universal theme

ALTHOUGH the exhibition is called “Fat Mouse,” you won’t see any mice at artist Yu Honglei’s latest show at Antenna Space.

Yu studies and analyzes a certain universality to reveal the complex logic of everyday objects. He adopts news, music, cinema, as well as language and reincorporates them back into “life.”

“Take a Walk” is a two-channel digital video piece in which Yu mixes more than 100 works of art, music and movies with daily objects and places them in five situations.

Born in 1984 in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Yu now lives and works in Beijing. His previous exhibitions in the capital include last year’s “Everything is Extremely Important: There is Nothing That Will Not Come Back Again” and “Meet Next life” in 2012.
