Putuo spells out 5-year plan for industrial, technological growth

PUTUO District will strengthen industrial planning and focus on technological innovation in the next five years to catch up with the latest trend in the industry.
The district is developing rapidly thanks to the obvious advantage of its favorable location. Known as Shanghai’s “west hall lounge,” Putuo is an important on-land gate and transport hub of Shanghai that connects the Yangtze River Delta and the inland.
Along with regional industrial structure optimization and urban renewal, the district plans to make more free space available for development.
Putuo’s functional layout of “One Axis and Two Wings,” which seeks to promote technological innovation of the district, has gradually been clear.
The layout turns Wuning Road into an axis leading the whole district in innovation. Ties among government, research institutes, local universities and high-tech parks in this area will be strengthened.
The area will also build a platform for resource-sharing and put the application of scientific and technological achievements into practical use.
The north wing area, covering Taopu and Zhenru areas, will focus on the humane urban design, green ecological system, and the integrated development of industry and city.
The south area consists of Changfeng, Changshou and Zhonghuan commercial hub which are functional areas along Suzhou Creek. These areas will develop jointly to form innovative eco-system.
At present, a large number of advantageous industries such as modern business trade, financial M&A, software and information services, robot testing and certification are gathering in these areas.
The district will develop information technology and accelerate the development of emerging industries to support regional economies. The district will create an environment for technological innovation through investment, platform building and incentives.
