Nursing stations for young mothers
A network of nursing stations has been launched at local office buildings, shopping malls and public venues across Putuo District for working mothers.
The nursing stations are subsidized by the Women Workers Committee of the the district’s Federation of Trade Unions.
Such service stations have been set up to provide a private, safe and hygienic place for young mothers to breastfeed their babies or pump their breast milk.
Employees at each station are on hand to offer more professional services to the young mothers.
The district now has 24 such nursing stations in industrial parks, companies, organizations, office towers and malls.
Global Harbor Shopping Mall, for example, has a maternal ward offering diapers, diaper wipes and stroller leases.
APP service
These services have been included into an app launched by the municipal level service station.
To improve the services, the district federation also rates each station with the help of city’s trade union federation.
They evaluate the management of each station along with maintenance, hardware and funding.
An overall rating from one to five stars is given with five being the best.
A total of 21 service stations in the district received three stars and one received four stars.
In Shanghai, the first nursing stations were set up in June 2013.
As planned, there will be about 1,000 such stations launched across the city.
