Yongchang Online, an O2O (online-to-offline) grocery market, opened recently on dd.taobao.com, a community service website run by Taobao.com. The market allows consumers to buy fruit, vegetables, seafood and meat products online. Purchases are delivered by Yongchang’s own scooter delivery service team within 30 minutes.
Shanghai Yongchang Corporate Development Ltd manages 15 food markets in Putuo. Its online market is expected to reach more customers.
Yongchang Online has a food safety tracking system and requires every business to join a compensation insurance scheme. If a customer reports a food safety problem, he or she will be compensated with money from the scheme. Regulatory authorities will also fine the involved food producer and seller.
