The beauty of traditional artworksYang Wenjie
A month-long exhibition featuring traditional Chinese handcrafts opened this month to celebrate China’s traditional cultural and natural heritages.
The exhibition, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the city of Shanghai, displays 1,500 handcrafts from across the country.
Shanghai-style Art Gallery in Minhang, along with the main venue of Baoshan International Folk Art Museum and branches in four other districts are hosting the exhibits. The Minhang branch features ceramics, paintings and sculpture.
Souvenirs, including a toy kit of the Temple of Heaven made with Chinese mortise-and-tenon joinery and miniature versions of folk musical instruments, are available at the exhibition sites.
