Holiday report card: A-plus
MINHANG enjoyed a prosperous Golden Week holiday in October, thanks to the Shanghai Tourism Festival, the Shanghai ATP Masters 1000 and some beautiful autumn weather.
An experiment combining the tennis competition with sightseeing packages ended well, according to tourism officials.
Shanghai Huanyu International Travel Service Co sold tournament tickets along with trips to scenic areas in the district, such as Qibao Town Street and Hanxiang Water Expo Garden. That allowed visitors to view the sights by day and the tennis matches at night. More than 200 overseas visitors and 1,000 domestic tourists bought the packages. Most of the customers were avid photographers, according to the company.
Meanwhile, traditional scenic venues, such as Jinjiang Amusement Park also enjoyed a booming week of business during the holiday.
The park held a three-day live show featuring the rising band Saga, comprising singers from China, Japan and South Korea. The park reported about 91,000 visitors over the holiday period, a 33 percent increase from a year earlier.
Many people enjoying the holiday didn’t forget those less fortunate.
Bloodmobiles were quite busy, according to Minhang District public health authorities.
Li Kongjun, who came to Minhang from Henan Province to visit friends, said he noticed the bloodmobiles while at a bus station in the Meilong area, so he decided to donate blood.
“It felt good to help people outside my hometown,” he said.
Han Yazhi, who lives in downtown Shanghai, said she and her brother decided to donate blood during a visit to Qibao Town.
