A disused parking lot at a Lotus supermarket on Wenshui Road was converted into an athletics area featuring a basketball court, exercise equipment and restrooms. Local residents can use the area by paying a fee of 10 yuan (US$1.5) an hour.
“We are trying to encourage more residents to get more exercise,” said Yu Biao, director of the Jing’an Sports Bureau.
