Students go back in time to learn about Confucius culture

THIS year’s Shanghai Confucius Culture Festival in Jiading which began on September 15 and ends on the 30th, features 12 themed events.
More than 100 elementary school students attended a First Writing Ceremony at the Jiading Confucius Temple on September 17, once an important ritual for every child before they were admitted to school in ancient China. The students were dressed in Han costumes, read Confucian classics and wrote calligraphy.
Another highlight of the festival is the Mid-Autumn Gathering held on Minqing Street of the Zhouqiao scenic spot. Traditional cultural heritage such as ancient etiquette and the tea ceremony are demonstrated for visitors and tourists.
