Something entertaining for everyone

THERE are many parks and tourist attractions along the Metro Line 11 that connects Jiading District to the other part of Shanghai. Here are some of the attractions en route.

Jinjiang Park

Jinjiang Park, divided into land and water sections, has 40 entertainment programs suitable for all ages.

Tickets: 60 yuan and 100 yuan

Opening hours: Daily, 8:45am-5pm

Address: 201 Hongmei Rd, Minhang District

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Xujiahui, transfer to Line 1 and get off at Jinjiang Park.

Happy Valley

Happy Valley is one of the most popular entertainment venues in Shanghai with a variety of facilities including the wooden coaster-fireball, the diving coaster, merry-go-rounds and Ant Nation.

Tickets: 200 yuan for daytime and 80 yuan at night

Opening hours: Daily, 9am-5:30pm

Address: 888 Linhu Rd, Songjiang District

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Xujiahui, transfer to Line 9 and get off at Sheshan Station, cross the road and take the Happy Valley shuttle bus to get there.

Chocolate Happy Land

Chocolate Happy Land is a fantastic chocolate kingdom where visitors can see the world’s largest chocolate castle, a unique bread percussion show and a sugar world, taste delicious food and play with cartoon characters such as Transformer, Garfield and Crayon Shin-chan.

Tickets: 120 yuan for adults, 60 yuan for children between 1-1.4m. Free for children under 1m

Opening hours: Weekdays, 9am-5pm; weekends, 9am-6pm

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Oriental Sports Center Station, transfer to Line 8 and get off at Yaohua Road Station through Exit 4, take the Land’s shuttle bus to get there.

Chenshan Botanical Garden

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden boasts plants from five continents. A central display zone consists of 26 specialized gardens. Three greenhouses are important parts of the garden.

Tickets: 60 yuan

Opening hours: March-October, 8am-5:30pm; November -February, 8am-5pm

Address: 3888 Chenhua Rd, Songjiang District

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Xujiahui Station, transfer to Line 9 and get off at Dongjing Station, take Songjiang No. 19 bus to get there.

Shanghai Wildlife Park

Shanghai Wildlife Park is home to some 10,000 animals of more than 200 species, including giraffes, zebras, antelopes, rhinos, pandas, golden monkeys, South China tigers and Asian elephants. There are zones for both vehicles and pedestrians.

 Tickets: 130 yuan for adults

Opening hours: March-November, 8am-5pm; December to February, 8:30am-4:30pm

Address: 178 Nanlu Rd, Pudong New Area

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Luoshan Road Station, transfer to Line 16 to Wild Animal Park Station.

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Asia. With a theme of “Across the Five Continents in Water,” the aquarium is divided into eight exhibition sections to display more than 10,000 precious aquatic animals of over 300 species, such as poison dart frogs, jellyfish, ocean sunfish and penguins.

Tickets: 160 yuan for adults and 110 yuan for children

Opening hours: Daily, 9am-6pm

Address: 1388 Lujiazuihuan Rd, Pudong New Area

How to get there: Take Metro Line 11 to Jiangsu Road Station, transfer to Line 2 and get off at Lujiazui Station.
