More trails helping residents to get fit
A FITNESS trail has been built at Nanxiang’s Golf Park, some 500 meters long and 2.3 meters wide with a plastic-coated surface.
It’s just one of 16 fitness trails recently completed in Jiading District with a total length of around 7.5 kilometers.
Fitness trails are for everyone, not just for athletes, and they are almost always located on public property, making them easily accessible and free for users.
“Considering the reduction in land resources, it is unlikely there will be more parks but setting up the trails at public green spaces is a good idea,” a district sports authority official said.
The 16 new trails bring Jiading’s total to 47 and if you were to run all of their total length of 21 kilometers it would be almost the equivalent of a half harathon.
There’s no excuse not to get fit as each of the sub-districts or towns has its own trail.
Tian Qingshan and his granddaughter us the trail next their community at the intersection of Fanglin Road and Yanlu Road almost everyday.
The trail at their doorstep has become a must for many local residents, Tian said.
The Children’s Park in Jiading has two fitness trails, making up a total length of nearly 500 meters.
It attracts a lot of sports enthusiasts.
Runner Huang Juying said: “The plastic surface is much more comfortable than the previous hard cement surface.”
The Beishuiwan Sports Park in Juyuan has a 1,500-meter long fitness trail which attracts hundreds of people to exercise everyday. The park also has basketball courts and a soccer field. A swimming pool is expected to open to the public next month.
