Keeping fish cool
WANGXIN Fish Fry Farm in Waigang Town — one of the largest producers of freshwater fry in Eastern China — has taken a number of measures to keep its fish cool over the summer. These include adding additional oxygen to the water to counteract the loss of the vital gas that occurs during hot weather and disinfecting the pools every 15 to 20 days to kill bacteria, viruses and parasites. Meanwhile, Waigang Pig Farm is employing large air blowers, fans and sprays to keep stock there cool in the summer heat. According to staff, these can reduce the temperature by four to five degrees Celsius, helping with the healthy growth of more than 3,000 pigs.
