Innovators make their way in Jiading

They are Jiading’s entrepreneurs and innovators. They believe in innovation and taking actions. They dare to dream and turn their ideas into reality through hard work.

Ji Xiaopeng graduated from university in 2013 with a degree in IT.

“I worked for a state-owned enterprise and also had overseas working experiences for a product service provider contracted by the United States government. When my annual salary package reached 300,000 yuan (US$48,000), I wanted to take a chance. So I decided to start my own business.” Ji said.

Ji teamed up with friends to establish Fengdian Tech in 2013.

“We had only 1 million yuan as initial funds to support the operation of the company for the first year.” Ji said.

The most difficult thing for a startup company is finance. Ji visited 20 investment companies across the country in the six months after he set up his business.

However, the companies took a wait-and-see approach even though they thought Ji’s products had potential. Finally, Ji received an investment of 3 million yuan from a company.

Ji said he doesn’t hire people who are afraid of making mistakes as it is a founding belief of the company that sometimes making mistakes is the hallmark of being creative.

An Yufei resigned her job as an accountant to start up the CIE Association with three friends in 2013. Now there are seven members on the team. An and her team have already held a number of successful exhibitions across the country. “Our team serves as a bridge which brings entrepreneurs, investors, manufacturers and promotional platforms together.” An wants to build CIE into an incubator, where ideas can be turned into reality.

An was previously offered a dream job at Intel. She was struggling to decide whether to continue until she saw the successes achieved by her clients. “I think what I do means a lot and I will keep going!” An said.

Chen Mo founded Canlife in 2012, an online shopping directory providing customers with lifestyle products. The average age of Chen’s team is just 25. “To start a business, you need to find someone sharing the same ideas as yours.” Chen said she’s fortunate to have her team members.

During one Spring Festival, Chen received an e-mail from a former team member who had moved abroad, saying she decided to come back to work the next week.

“At that moment, I felt full of strength. And it just keeps me going forward. I am happy to have such partners.”
